Virtual Film Club: Gold Diggers

September 10, 2021
7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Arts at the Palace is pleased to present the first of a free, three-part film discussion series with film professional Juliette Fahey.

Gold-Diggers of 1933, directed by Marvyn LerRoy and Busby Berkeley: This pre-code Hollywood classic follows four young aspiring actresses, Polly, Carol, Trixie, and Fay as they work to put together a spectacular stage-show with the help of their neighbor and wealthy singer-songwriter, Brad. But as production is underway, the show is threatened by the revelation that Brad is in fact the son of a millionaire whose family disapproves of Brad’s ties with theater. With stunning choreography produced by Busby Berkeley, this Depression era backstage musical is filled with dazzling dance sequences and comedic hijinks.
