

Current Job Opening: Part-Time Technical Director
Based at the Palace Theater in Hamilton, NY, Arts at the Palace (AATP) is a not-for-profit community arts organization dedicated to presenting, developing, and expanding the reach of the arts within the Central New York region. The facilities of the Palace consist of two presentation spaces: an intimate cabaret for 50 persons and a larger open floor plan hall with a stage for 250 persons.
The Technical Director is a part-time position with varied hours responsible for the successful creation and delivery of performing arts productions, events, and rentals of the facility. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Supervising all technical needs for events.
- Overseeing the use and maintenance of theater tech equipment.
- Purchasing new equipment and repairs to the existing equipment as needed.
- Keeping an inventory of the theater’s technical supplies.
- Acting as technical liaison for outside presenters at Arts at the Palace.
- Advising production managers, directors, and designers on feasibility, cost, and equipment capabilities.
- Coordinating with all production team members to identify and determine proper course of action associated with the build and load-in of technical elements necessary for the production.
- Attending all tech rehearsals.
- Supervising all strikes and load outs.
- Conducting final walk throughs with clients on load outs and signing off on completion of strikes.
- Attending meetings and regular check-ins with Executive Director and staff as required.
Professional Qualifications/Skills:
- Knowledge of lighting, sound, video, and technical production equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to climb a ladder to 16’ and lift 50 lbs. as required.
- Evening and weekend availability required.
- Background in theatrical or event technical support preferred.
