Climate Change and Extreme Weather in Central NY

Climate change poses a number of potential problems for the people of Central New York, including changes in the frequency and severity of extreme weather events. This lecture explores changes in thunderstorms, heavy rain, and flooding specifically, but will also address the potential for extreme heat events and drought.

Presenter: Adam Burnett has taught at Colgate since 1990. He received his Ph.D. in Geography from Michigan State University. His courses and research at Colgate focus generally on physical geography and environmental science, and more specially on the climate of the Northeastern United States. His specialty is jet stream variability and changes in lake-effect snow.

All classes are live and in-person. We will not be recording sessions.
