Creative Showcase
For Writers, Singers, Musicians & Visual Artists
Hosted by Women Writers Accountability Group (WWAG) Alumnae in collaboration with Arts at the Palace in Hamilton, NY
The Women Writers Accountability Group (WWAG) was born during the COVID-19 pandemic to support the writing practices of women writers throughout Central New York and beyond. Conceived by Arts at the Palace and funded by a grant from the Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation, the group met weekly over Zoom to reduce isolation, motivate individual accountability, offer mutual support, and occasionally share creative work.
Now, in keeping with this spirit of encouragement, we are expanding the WWAG philosophy to foster a broader creative community—including writers, singers, musicians and visual artists of all ages and genders—by offering motivation and opportunities to share creative work in person, in front of a live audience.
Family-friendly and free to attend, our first Creative Showcase will take place June 2nd, 2023, in the Showcase Room at the Arts at the Palace, 9 Utica St. Hamilton, New York, 7:00 – 8:30 pm.* Light nibbles will be offered along with a beer and wine cash bar.
Interested in some creative motivation and an opportunity to share your work?
If you are a writer (special shout-out to all WWAG alums!), singer, musician or visual artist looking for accountability and an audience, we invite you to join us!
Please complete the participant registration form and upload (or provide a link to) a sample of your creative work to request a time slot during our June 2nd inaugural event. Allotted time slots will be based on the number of participants and genres to be presented and will include, in addition to the sharing of creative work, a self-introduction and creative statement with a specific goal. In stating a goal, each participant—it is hoped—becomes motivated and “accountable” for its achievement!**
We anticipate continuing the Creative Showcase as a monthly series (first Friday evening of each month) to give the inaugural participants—and new participants along the way—an opportunity to return and report on progress.
Deadline for submissions: May 23, 2023
*participating writers, musicians, and artists are asked to arrive at 6:30 for preparation and setup
**If all available time slots have been allocated for June 2nd, your registration will be considered for the next event.
