The Digital Life History Project at Colgate: Sep 7th at 3pm

This program is an overview of the Digital Life Story Project at Colgate University. Professor Loe in Sociology will share a few of the digital stories produced by students and locals over the last 15 years. A few of our previous participants– local elders and students– will come and talk about the experience of collecting and sharing life stories. So far, 60 locals (55 and over) and 60 students have participated in this program. We hope we might convince you to participate as well!

Presenter: Professor Meika Loe has taught Sociology of the Life Course at Colgate for the last 15 years. This project is a key component of her course and is closely linked to her research. Loe’s book, Aging Our Way,  followed 30 elders, 85 and older, living on their own and making it work in central New York. As someone who yearns for intergenerational interactions and a world that is anti-ageist, Professor Loe sees this course as a wonderful opportunity to imagine the type of world she hopes for.

Events and courses are offered by the LifeLong Learning Program, an organization sponsored by Colgate's Upstate Institute.

Most of our classes occur at The Palace Theater in Hamilton, NY. All classes are open to non-members for a $5 fee.

If you would like to become a member or if you have questions about the status of your membership, please email llp@colgate.edu.

All classes are live and in-person. We will not be recording sessions.
