Global Change in Antarctica: Climate Change Lessons from the McMurdo Dry Valleys

How do geoscientists measure climate change in Antarctica? How is climate change impacting the polar landscape and the organisms that live there? What does Antarctic climate change mean for people living in temperate latitudes? This course focuses on lessons learned from nearly four decades of climate change research in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica—a cold polar desert that may be nearing a climate change tipping point.

Presenter: Joe Levy is an Associate Professor of Earth and Environmental Geosciences at Colgate University. He is an investigator with the McMurdo Dry Valleys Long Term Ecological Research program and has conducted 13 expeditions to Antarctica to explore interactions between climate, landscapes, and polar ecosystems.
