Date: Wednesday, October 16th, 2024
Time: 3:00 PM
Location: Arts at The Palace, 19 Utica St., Hamilton, NY 13346
One of America's greatest painters, Winslow Homer developed from an illustrator to an artist during the Civil War years. In the process, he provided a compelling visual record that brought the War and its many transformations home to audiences then and now. These illustrated lectures will explore that record in detail.
Presenter: Carl Guarneri is Professor of History Emeritus at Saint Mary's College of California, where he taught for more than 40 years. He is now a Hamilton resident and an Affiliated Scholar in History at Colgate. He is the author or editor of several books on utopian communities, the Civil War, and American history in a global perspective.
Annual memberships are available for both individuals and families. However, all presentations are open to non-members for a $10 fee.
